2002 Accord dash lights blink out
 

I just bought a 2002 Accord EX coupe in early May with 76k miles, and when I was driving home late last night, I noticed that the 3 gauges (tach, speed, and gas/temp) lights and needle lights all blinked out at the same time. The only thing on the dash that was still lit up was the trip and odometer section. The other lights (turn signal, brake, etc.) all worked still. The radio also still worked fine. The only other thing I noticed was that the clock doesn't illuminate when the lights are on either. They blinked back on for about 10 seconds at one point (but the clock never did), and then blinked right back out.

I researched it a little bit and saw on 2001 models there was a recall for a multiplexer issue that caused dash/gauge lights to blink out because it overheated, but it wasn't detailed enough for me to gather whether it was a similar issue to mine, which wouldn't be eligible for that recall, even if it was.

Since it was just the 3 gauge lights, could it be a fuse, or am I going to have to replace the multiplexer or the gauge cluster?

A fuse would either be blown or not. You can check to see if any fuses are loose. A wiring diagram would help out a lot to trace a common source of the gauge light problem.. You can download a 98-02 shop manual from the spooner link I posted in the Online Manuals thread in the DIY section.
