2003 2.4L Accord - Engine Hesitation

I have had a problem with an intermittent hesitation (car bucks but does not stall). I have had both o2 sensors replaced as well as the Oil pressure sensor. Thought it was fixed, as it seems to run fine when the weather is warm and dry. Got if back from the shop Friday and drove it this weekend without problem. When I went to drive it on Monday morning (there was moisture in the air and it was cooler (low 60's). The same issue occurred. It threw a fault (CEL came on) but I don't know the code. Took it back to the shop right away and haven't heard from them yet. Any ideas? Frustrated and want to know if the shop is snowing me.

I've moved this to General Tech - questions do not go in the DIY area.

It would be nice if we knew what the codes was......without it we are kind of guessing.

Next time, stop by almost any parts store (outside of CA) and they will scan the codes for free. Get the actual code number ("P" and four digits) and not their description of the code.

Thanks for moving this to the proper section. I just talked to the garage, and they said it is still reading a faulty Oil Pressure switch (which they replaced). He said in some repair sites they were recommending replacing the solenoid...but he said that was pricey (Over $100 for the part). He didn't think that would be the issue either. He sounded stumped as well. He didn't have the code when I spoke to him. I will hopefully get it later. This issue does not occur on all cold starts. He drove the car everyday last week (I was out of town) and I drove it on the weekend. It only happened this Monday when it was a little cooler and their was higher humidity (not sure if that is related).

Could it be a faulty ground on the solenoid? Just a thought.

sounds like we're headed towards something VTEC related...when you get the code report back.

The code it is throwing is P2646. The mechanic is stumped as we have changed the oil, changed the oil pressure switch and both O2 sensors. He also feels this should not cause the "bucking"/ hesitation that I experience infrequently.

This might help you...

Interesting. The mechanic cleaned the Solenoid filter and it was perfectly clean, but I don't think he looked at the VTC strainer shown first in the video. I think I will suggest this to him. He still insists that this code should not cause the hesitation issue...but it looks like that may not be entirely true. He has not been able to repeat the issue and the engine light has not kicked again once he cleared it. But I have had that happen where it runs great for days and the check engine light remains off..then bam.

Did this ever get fixed. I'm experiencing the same thing. Replaced pretty much everything related at this point.

Are you getting the same code
