2003 AC is out
about a month ago a friend of mine kept messing with my passenger AC knob. He'd make it go to the highest tempeture and after iwould press the "DUAL" button to make it go back to the my(driver's side)original setting which was like 58 degrees... after about six times the AC just stopped working.. to me it seems like we blew out a fuse? if so what fuse might that be? Please help.. i live in a desert town and the dealership wants to charge me 185$ just to diagnose it, not to mention i have a 100$ deductable on my warranty... plus they cant tell me if my warranty will cover the cost to fix it until after they diagnose it.
i have a 2003 accord ex. |
RE: 2003 AC is out
I would think there should be a fuse diagram somewhere in your owner's manual, but I am not sure. Whip out your manual and give it a once-over. Or maybe the fuse covers have diagrams showing which fuse is which. If that is not the case, I would disconnect my battery (make sure you have the radio code if yours has anti theft) and just start pulling fuses to check if one is burned out. When you pull each fuse, check it, then replace it before pulling another. You don't want to get confused as to which fuse goes where.
This could be totally off though.I am no A/C pro by any means. We have a few members on here who know a lot about A/C systems. Hopefully one of them will see your dilemma and respond with a diagnosis procedure. |

it could jsut need to be reset. try pullin the positive battery cable for 15 min or so...make sure you have your radio code.

To help narrow down the possible problems, have an assistant turn on the A/C while you look in the hood.
Let us know if both fans turn on and if the compressor clutch engages. |
RE: 2003 AC is out
nothing happens at all to the fans or to the compressor clutchwhen i press the ac button.. what i have noticed is when i drive(only when the car is in motion), if i turn the knob clockwise(hotter temp) hot air will come out the vents... and if i turn the knob back to a cooler temp, just normal air will come in.. that is why i thinki need to change the circuit breaker for the faninside the hood fuse box.. the problem is i dont have the owners manual... but i have two main breakers that might be the culprits.. one has a picture of a snowflake, the other a picture of a fan.. i'm willing to try any suggestions before taking it in to the dealer.. i just dont have six hundred dollars to spend.

You should smack that friend of yours upside the head for breaking it[sm=chairshot.gif] then steal his credit card. Or you could pimp out his sister. Pay the dealership with that.
