2003 Accord v3 - Solid Maintenance light

Hi,
My baby is a 2003 Accord V6 with about 180,000 miles. She drives great.
Recently the maintenance light started to stay on after I start the car. I got the old changed but the mechanic could not reset it (nor can I).
SO the light will not switch off.

The car drives great. I am wondering whether I have to change the transmission fluid or something(I haven't done this in very long time).
Is there a way to tell what's keeping the maintenance light solid?

What do you recommend?

Resetting that light is pretty easy. I think that you push in the trip reset button, then turn the key to the II position and continue to hold the trip reset button till the maintenance light blinks or turns off. It resets the light after holding for about ten seconds.

The directions should be in your owner's manual, so take a look, because I could be wrong on these instructions.

Get in the car, close the door, press the reset button (near speedo) with your left hand, continue to hold the button down while you turn the key to II (on, not start). Light should go out in about 10 seconds. The light will start to blink again after about 6-7000 miles, to remind you to do maintenance again.

Fixed! You guys were spot on!

I had to sit in the car and close the door and then the reset worked.
Thanks Gents I greatly appreciate your assistance!

Wow! As many years & miles I owned the 1998 then 2003 Accords, I guess I never tried that reset with the door open. I didn't know that it made any difference. (learn something new when you least expect it)

I have an oil change due on my Accord for this weekend; I'll try doing the reset with the door open and see what happens. :)

I'm not positive about the door, it's just what some people say. They also say it doesn't work with the headlights on, but I haven't tested that theory either.
