2003 A/C Problem
Hello.
I'm having exactly the same problem. I have a 2003 Accord EX with Navi, 4 cyl sedan. I have automatic air conditioning. The compressor comes on for a few seconds and then turns itself off. If I try to turn the AC on again the compressor won't turn on again UNTIL I stop the car, stop the motor, and then restart the engine. Then it comes on again for a few seconds, etc...
No air blows at any time, either with the temperature dialed all the way up or down. I checked fuses 30 (inside) and 21 (under hood) and both look fine to me.
I followed the instructions to pull a trouble code from the AC heads up display from another post on the net but about half of the instructions didn't fit with my model of Accord (stuff like set to Vent, turn dial to Max Cool, etc.)
Can anyone help? Thanks!
Mike

I moved your post to a new thread, so things don't get confusing.
Does the a/c light stay turned on in the car when the a/c turns on and off? Do the two fans on the radiator turn on when you turn on the a/c? Do they stay turned on when the a/c turns off?
Do you have a volt meter?

Thanks PAhonda - I thought about starting a new thread, guess I should have.
Yes, the A/C light stays on when the A/C is turned on; Yes, both radiator fans turn on when I turn on the A/C, and they shut off when the compressor turns off after a few seconds. I do not have a volt meter.

Here is a thread that I did about checking HVAC codes:
HVAC Code(s) - Honda Accord Forum - Honda Accord Enthusiast Forums
I just did this on my TSX. You turn the temperature control to Lo. Turn the control to auto. Hold the OFF button. Hit the rear defrost button 5 times.
Does any air (hot or cold) blow out of the vents?

Your problem is that the fan inside the car is not blowing air. That is usually the power transistor needs replaced or repaired. It is kind of common.
Google s6ioJxAoF4M. It is a video on how to test and replace the transistor. You already tested the system. Just watch how to replace.
If you know how to solder, you can repair that transistor. If not, then order a new one. It will be ~$70 at a dealership. ~$50 online without shipping.
The part number is 79330-SDA-A01 and is #11 in the diagram below.

I will report back when I've got it (hopefully) fixed.
I do recall seeing a walkthrough for fixing this using a soldering iron and some transistors bought at Radio Shack or something like that.
I might just go ahead and order the part.
Thank you VERY much for your help. Like I said, I'll report back and let you know what happens.

Success!! I now, once again, have air conditioning in my car. Thinking about leaving it off more in the future though. I've sweat off a few pounds in the last few days.
Thanks so very much for your help. $80 part (that's with tax) and some time and effort.
The video was very helpful.
I had a heck of a time getting the left screw out. There's a plastic piece sticking out right in the way, but I have a long Phillips screwdriver and I was able to gradually turn it just enough so I could do the rest with my fingers. I have the right screw back in now, and I have no idea how I'm going to get the left one back in.
Anyway, you saved me about 200 bucks. Thank you!!!!
