Please help! Was having problems with the air conditioning freezing up and the radio malfunctioning intermittently. Took it to the dealership for diagnostics and was told it needed a new climate control panel/radio OEM, cost of part over $900. Ordered a used part on ebay and installed it - this caused the heater to stay on all the time, but the compressor was cycling on and off correctly. I asked for a replacement part, thinking there was a defect in the Climate control panel. With the newer part, the radio works fine, but the control will open all the a/c valves, but doesn't close them when you try to make a switch from defrost, to feet, to mid-level, etc. This results in all the vents being open at the same time. All the valves stay open and do not close even when turning the unit off. It is my understanding that these are plugin & play units, but is there a code needed or is there some other part that is not functioning?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

 

It may be a possible problem with the mode mix motor. In the "Common DIY and other Info. Thread" sticky above in this forum, I believe this is some info. on how-to retrieve the trouble code(s) to narrow down the problem area.
