2003 V6 Accord - Failed Emissions Test
Took car to inspector last week for annual inspection. Comes back and says can't finish as several sensors are reading "Not Ready". The specific sensors are:CatalystEvapO2 SensEGR SysHe says the battery may have been disconnected or jumped (it hadn't)recently and that reset the computer. So,drive it for 150 mi. under normal conditions and come back.I drive it for a week under 'normal' conditions (~400 mi.) and go back today for followup inspection. And again, the same sensors read 'Not Ready'Shop owner doesn't know what to make of it. He says to drive around for a couple more days and come back, but I don't see what that will change. What should I do?2003 EX Accord V6, 46k miles

RE: 2003 V6 Accord - Failed Emissions Test
Several things have to happen to set readyness.
Heres a quick summary for 03-06 Accord, if I can post... Catalyst: ECT sensor reading above 158 F Stop & go driving for about 5 miles. EVAP system: Battery at least 10.5 v ECT sensor reading between 176-212 F MAP sensor reading below 46.6 kPa VSS reading zero - engine idling IAT sensor reading between 32-212 F O2 sensor: ECT sensor reading above 158 F Stop & go driving for about 5 miles Include steady cruising 50-62 mph for 10 second Engine braking (throttle closed) for 5 second EGR system: ECT sensor reading above 176 F Steady cruising 50-62 mph for 10 second Engine braking (throttle closed) for 5 second Make sure code P0401 is not showing |
RE: 2003 V6 Accord - Failed Emissions Test
A few things can screw this up:
ECU backup fuse blown? Short drives so it never warms up? Never get to 50mph steady driving? Never do engine-braking? |
