2004 Accord Bumper Replacement Help

Well I had the joy of someone backing into my card today at the grocery store, and anyways it poked a hole in the bumper along with scratching up the paint on it pretty bad. So I'm looking to replace it. I have a couple questions, first being is it difficult? It seems easy enough but not sure if there are any people here with experience with it that may have a more informed idea. Secondly, I have found quite a few bumpers on ebay (primed about 150 or painted about 300). If I get one painted to match my paint code what are you guys thoughts on it actually matching? Our car is garaged for the most part but I was wondering on peoples experience with buying items that match your paint code versus the true color of your car (sun fading etc), or is it not really noticiable? Anyways thanks for any help I appreciate it.

Andy

Well I have a 91 Accord and when I bought my fender painted to match my paint code it was almost identical. You have to get up close to notice. I guess it would depend on the colour to, my car is a light tan. Usually it comes pretty close.

RE: 2004 Accord Bumper Replacement Help

Taking the bumper cover off is usually only a few screws and a bazillion plastic rivets, nothing too difficult. Since the bumper is separated by the grilles and headlights (assuming it's the front) you really only have to worry about where the fenders are for the paint to match up. If it were a fender, door or hood I would shell out the extra cash to get it matched at a shop, but not for a bumper. You should be fine, the darker the color the better.

Thanks guys, (actually its the rear bumper cover should have probably said that). But it seems the best (cheapest) method is going to just be get an aftermarket oe replacement and have it painted and shipped. Appreciate the help
