2004 Accord- lock signal weak

We recently replaced our drivers door lock actuator, now we need to be with in 2 feet of the door to use the key fob. We have replaced batteries to no avail. What do you think is the most likely culprit. Do we need to reprogram the FOBS? Could we have gotten a faulty actuator? or did we miss an install step?

Does the new actuator work properly? The FOB signal is received by the door multiplex control unit, which is integrated into the driver's door lock/unlock and window switch. You may want to check that you don't have any loose connections, bent/corroded pins, or pinched wiring?

Does the door multiplexer have an antenna? Is an antenna connected through any of the pins on the MICU connections?

07 Accord EXL similar problems

I have an 07 Accord EXL 3.0 VTEC Auto coupe. I pulled the master switch out from the door panel and removed it from the wiring harness. I read in your previous post where there should be an antenna or an antenna wire hooked up to it. On mine there is nothing attached to it. I can get the key fobs to go into program mode, but when I try and use them afterwards I get nothing. Also my power door lock switch on the inside will only unlock both doors but will not lock them. What should I be looking at to check and resolve this issue?

The coil antennae is soldered onto a circuit board that is part of the door multiplex control unit (mcu). It is not visible unless one of the plastic covers is pried off. It is not directly connected to the terminal pin connectors where the harness connector plugs into.

Many times the issue is resolved by replacing the door mcu.

A diyer add-on is possible to solder in a longer wire to the existing antennae connection.

Can you point me in the direction of the post for the DIY to solder on a longer antenna? Also what's the proper way to pry the covers off of the MCU switches? I've had that apart and I do not want to break those trying to pry them apart and correctly. Thanks in advance for your help. Where's the best place to order a new MCU for this car?
