2004 honda accord, adjusting timing chain after replacement. Quick question!! Thanks
Hey guys,
I will post longer later, but i'm currently deep in my accord and want to finish today, quick question. I had a stretched timing chain. I changed it, put it all back together, fired her up, drove it, had trouble starting/idling/backfire/stalling. Wouldn't throw a code, pulled off the cover, and checked the timing marks on the two gears to find out that they are now off about an inch or 4-5 grooves! I am in the middle of pulling off the timing chain cover when it hits me, can I just pull off the timing chain tensioner plate, loosen the chain, adjust the top and turn the bottom till the key hole is pointing up to the arrow...then tighten. OR do I have to take the whole cover off and get deep in there! Thanks! |
Worth a try. Procedure for VTC actuator replacement does something similar.
good luck |
