2005 Accord Hybrid spare tire?

So I read in multiple places that the 2005 Accord Hybrid was not equipped with a spare in order to save weight, and instead they just gave you a can of sealant and a compressor. However, I noticed today that my HAH has a spare tire on a steel rim and everything is properly mounted in a spare well, so it looks like it came from the factory like that. Anyone know if this was an option on the HAH? And if the added weight from the spare is going to affect fuel economy/performance in any significant way (a weight specification for the spare would be great if anyone knows). Thanks

The 2005 Accord hybrid did not come with a spare. It was an add-on.

I don't know the answer to that , but I would venture to say that the weight savings vs the fuel economy ratio would never be calculated in this day and age of fuel waste ..know what I mean!

Hey there. I bought my HAH used and was given an option to take a spare tire or leave the "tire well" empty. I actually needed to have the tire in that well, ortherwise my trunk floor would be wobbly.

I doubt the tire's weight has any significant impact. By the way, I recommend SeaFoam fuel additive if you want to improve milage. No I'm not a Seafoam salesman (though some may find that hard to believe), but I've been sold by this product. After applying it (plus 2 bottles of CataClean) I've been getting higher mpg in city consistently! :)

I, like you and many of our members use Seafoam..it is a great working product and it's worth the price it sells at..

There was no spare tire in the 2005 Accord Hybrid. There was a can of sealant and a battery operated pump. There was also a foam tray to help level the trunk floor. There was however, sufficient space for a full size wheel and thin tire in the trunk well. It could be covered with a fitted board. and create a level trunk floor. We did this on our 05 Accord Hybrid purchased new in December 2005. This is a great car which we still own. 106,000 miles and running just like when new.

How about the spare tire in a 2020 Accord Hybrid? I've arranged for one. Questions come to mind:
1)Does the pressure testing system deal with putting a spare on, when one didn't come stock with it? I've obtained a spare kit for our 2020 HAH EX.
2)Does it matter, front or rear, where you put the spare? Having had all-wheel drive where tire circumference has to be very close, I would imagine that it would make a difference...

I don't think the spares would have a pressure sensor so your car may throw an error on the TPMS System. Since the spare is just short term (ideally), I'm not sure I'd go through the trouble to swap around tires (even with AWD) to try and put spares on the front or the back. My Accord Hybrid (2005) has no spare (considering one). Our Pilot has a full-size spare and that's what I'd recommend if you were planning on going for any distance.
