2006 Accord V6 - Front Strut Replacement - Raising the lower control arm advice
 

In preparation for doing a front strut (shock absorber/coil spring assembly) replacement on my 2006 Accord V6(EX) 4-door Automatic , I need some advice on an installation step.

After guiding the strut assembly and damper fork into position but before tightening any of the nuts...
1) The Haynes Repair Manual states, "Raise the lower control arm with a floor jack to simulate normal ride height..."
2) The ALL-DATA instructions state, "Place the floor jack under the lower arm and raise the suspension to load it with the vehicle's weight."

I need some clarity on just how high I must raise the lower control arm. Since this is my first attempt at strut replacement, your help is much appreciated. Thank you.

You will know if the hight is right because you will be able to bolt everything on. You don't have to be perfect. Just high enough to finish the job.

I've put the jack under that control arm. Lift the arm until you get the bolt to line-up with the wishbone and run the bolt through. Then I raise the jack until the car slightly comes off the jack stand. Then tighten the nut to the wishbone.

When the car just comes off the jack-stand is when the weight of the car is on the lower control arm.
