2007 Accord Clutch R & R
Straight to the point.... Wifey torched my clutch and I'm looking into replacing it myself.
I have replaced rear wheel drive clutches on older cars, 80's and early 90's. I've rebuilt a couple motors when I was in high school back in the late 80's. So I do have the ability to do this kind of work, but I've never dug into a newer car like this before. Am in over my head? Do I need any special tools to R & R a front wheel drive clutch? I plan on doing it in my garage over a weekend. A manual would be nice too, but I don't want to buy one, and I can't seem to find anything online. |
You will invest perhaps 20-30 hrs of your personal time to complete this job (my guess, others may have different opinions). Why wouldn't you consider spending $75 on a honda shop manual. At least purchase a Haynes manual ($20). It will also describe the necessary steps.
Yes, you should be able to do this job. good luck |
Thank you for your help! I did order a manual, for only $20, didn't realize they were so cheap.
I've found a few clutch kits online, the problem is they range in price from $300 to $400. I don't want poor quality, but I don't need high performance grade either... http://www.jcwhitney.com/clutch-set/...651d855y2007j1 http://www.clutchplace.com/clutch-ki...lutch-kit.html I did a little more research on this and I'll be able to do this... |
You can buy OEM parts for <$400, even w/ a flywheel replacement. Flywheel may need replacement if it was overheated.
good luck |
