2012 Accord LX Oil Change
 

Can someone give me guidance on how to remove plastic guard under front of 2012 Accord? Do I just pull the plastic "plugs" out by pulling down on the guard? I'm used to metal guards that are screwed into the frame. Also, do you place jack stands where the scissor jack goes for changing a flat?

For a motor oil change, there is no need to remove the plastic splash shield under the car.

If you were to change automatic transmission fluid on the four cylinder, then you would need to remove the splash shield or cut a larger access hole for the drain plug. The plastic clips are removed by gently prying with a small flat-head screw driver or a special clip puller. Sometimes you may need to spray something like WD-40 to help loosen built-up dirt, to more easily remove the clips. --There are 16 clips, and do not try to pull the plastic splash shield until you actually removed and counted 16 clips; otherwise, you risk ripping the shield and having to buy a new one.

To safely work underneath the car, use a floor jack to raise the car by the center jacking point, there is an arrow pointing to it under the front of the car. Place the jack stands where the scissor jack goes for changing a flat, as shown in the owner's manual. Also, chock the rear wheels with something like wheel chocks as an extra safety precaution.

Thanks. I actually just found the filter and plug in the center of the car - not blocked by the guard. Reviewing some other info/videos on the web, I thought the oil filter was by the passenger wheel well. Thanks again.
