2012 Accord SE - Vibration at 30-35mph upon Acceleration
 

My car shakes/vibrates/wobbles at 30-35 mph while accelerating. It stops if you take your foot off of the accelerator. Also, the vibration stops above 35 mph while still accelerating. I have done the following:

1. Rotated and balanced tires.
2. Replaced a worn tire.
3. Had the axles and CV joints inspected at a respectable transmission indie shop.

If anyone has any thoughts, please let me know.

I presume that when you rotated the tires, the vibration didn't feel like it moved to a new corner of the car... (and they didn't balance them & put back on the same corners).

You covered the major things that normally cause a vibration like that. However, I remember someone saying they had a similar problem & ended up being a loose suspension bushing. I'm not suggesting wholesale replacing bushings, but have them checked out by a shop that does a lot of suspension work. When you accelerate, it loads the bushings & balljoints in different directions.

ps. I just saw your other post about a damaged rim... Since you haven't been successful yet finding a rim, what kind of damage are you talking about? Cosmetic scratches only? Sure the damage isn't causing the problem?

He hit a pot hole and it did a good job on the lip of the rim. It may be part of the problem. I will follow up when I finally get this resolved. This happened last summer and I had an alignment done after the damage was done. I am not sure if this is related as the vibration is between 30-35 mph and stops when not accelerating.

It may be that the alignment shop didn't look for a bent rim? Sometimes a balancing machine has all those safety covers, and the operator really has to go out of his way to check whether the rim is bent. Neither one of these ideas are really certain, just something to consider.

I removed the questionable rim/tire and put on the spare tire. The vibration was still there. The axles are being looked at again. I will follow up when I have additional information. Thanks for the input.

Problem Solved
 

It appears it was the CV axle - both driver and passenger sides replaced. The vibration is gone - cost of $525 including parts and labor.

THANKS for telling us the result. Too many times we never find out the end of the story...
(I wonder why they didn't find it when they first looked at the axles?)
