3rd gen accord fuel relay question
Hi guys,
My 3rd gen accord is a project car. Its a manual tranny and fitted with a carb, really old school model. I have an issue with fuel supply to the carb. I am trying to locate the fuel pump relay and searched on many forums. I gathered that for this model, they dont call it fuel pump relay but fuel cut-off relay. Whatever you call it, i reckon this is what runs your pump the way it should eg it turns on the pump upon turning the key and shuts it off when it should. I think my relay is playing tricka on me. So, what is the test process for the relay. Havent comw across any forum that tells me that. PS. I have not yet located the relay but the manual says its right next to the fuse box and based on ebay pictures, it has 4 terminal that are all aligned together. Kindly confirm if this is accurate Cheers |
It is located up under the drivers side dash assembly. Go the Bernardi Honda, go the parts section, look up your car, go the the electrical/fuel section, look for the fuel relay section. Your part will be number one on the list. Look at the parts diagram and find part number 1 and you will see exactly where it is located. Good luck.

I'll dig up a pic for you.
On the carb'd models it is in/on the underdash fues panel. |

Here are some pic's. I'll be honest, can't say that I've seen these relays fail. So not sure of the issue you are having but there are TWO fuel filters I would change, next there is a "sight glass" on the side of the carb where you can see/watch the fuel level inside the bowl.

Thanks poorman212. Hey where'd you get those materials ??? They're different from the one i have downloaded. Yours look great.

I can't remember where I got that download...It is the best of all of the others I've run across. It is a sevice manual for the 89 Accord(s). So there are some of the "mid-gen" changes I have to try to remember....there are some differences between the 86-87 vs the 88-89, they are minor but still can trip me up if I'm not careful....small example, look at the front bumper lights on the early ones vs the late ones :)
