'92 EX 5 Spd, 2.2 liter, 213,000 miles. New to me last year, in great shape, even new-like interior.
Plan to keep it for long time, so doing maintenance.

I had just changed my tranny fluid to 10W-30 engine oil (yes, the manual calls for that),
but was noticing tendency to clash in 2nd gear shifts soon after the change unless very careful.
Then, maybe a month later, moderator Jim Blake made an offhand post on hearing good things
about Pennzoil Synchromesh.

So bought 2 qts of this, a second fluid change in 1500 miles - groan - but now tranny shifts much better.
2nd gear shifts are smooth, not quite buttery after 213k, but smooth.
So ... a good 5 spd tranny fluid selection thanks to Jim.

Autozone, $8.99 / qt.
My car is 4 cyl., don't know how it works for other uses.

Actually, Honda called for engine-oil in the manual tranny at least to 1995 (I had a 95 Integra). Later when they began selling their own MTF, it was fully compatible with the transmissions that call for engine-oil.

You have to go back a few more years earlier to get an old Accord that calls for GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil. Don't use Honda MTF or Penn.Synchromesh in THOSE older cars, the GL-x specification is there for a reason.

So.... after all that BS, I'm glad it helped. No fluid can fix something that's actually broken, but I'm glad it helped.
