Default 94 Civic 4 cyl. engine noise

94 Accord EX 4 cyl. engine noise
I was told that the timing belt(s) were replaced; no mention of the tensioner pulleys. No other accy's were replaced at that time. The noise is comparable to the sound of a vacuum leak; but it IS in the belts- specifically the timing.

If I have posted this in the wrong place; could an Admin please suggest where instead of just throwing it away please?
Thank you

This is the proper forum for your question.

How many miles are on your engine?

You should make sure that the P.S. and serpentine belts are not the source of the noise. If spraying belt dressing quiets the noise, then you will have to adjust the tension on the belt that stopped making the noise.

Ok... thank you! That makes sense. The car has 145,000 on it. I'll try the belt dressing and see what changes.
Thanks again!

If the external belts are old, they might be hard & slippery. OVERtightening them (to stop the slipping) can lead to bearing failures.
