89 accord clutch wont disengage

I bought the car for a beater good mpg fool around car, previous owner said it just needed a clutch cable. His story was he came to a stop light and pressed clutch in and it kept going. So i take it home and trace it out, it was not attached so i attach it and adjust it, it pulls the lever up fine but no clutch action, it's always engaged so i know the clutch shouldn't be the issue.

Can someone with more knowledge on these give me some advice? Thanks

Bob,

If you don't mind I've moved this to general tech.

Have you "max'd" out the adustment on the cable? If so something with the pressure plate is up or the cable has stretched beyond adjustment.

Thanks for moving it man, still getting used to the site being second post. I'v maxed it out and get about 3-4 inches of upward pull. is this enough or should it be pulling more, i have a video of how much it moves but i dont know how to share it with you guys

You didn't do anything wrong.......I have to admit I don't get into the section where you posted as much as I should......I found this from your post in the new member section. From there I searched for your other post. To keep up with this post, I used my "powers" and moved it :)

Now back to the issue. If you have "max'd" out the cable......sorry but either the cable is so stretch it won't work - never seen this before - or the clutch is shot, time for a new clutch set and flywheel - or turn the old one if within spec.

What part of the world are you in? I'd could look that up as well but I'm being lazy :)
