day one of completed EGR BYPASS and PCV VENTING
99 accord 336,000 original engine miles.
Ok, so i purchased a oil catch can with two inputs, attached hose from hollowed out pcv (no valve) to input one, then attached hose from vent on valve cover to input two. Plugged intake and air plentum vacuum ports.
I hollowed the pcv valve by grinding the inner "valve stop" with a dremel until spring and pin droppped out.
Purchased a egr block plate off ebay and installed gasket, plate then egr valve on top.
So far, no noticeable difference in operation or performance. I recently cleaned the upper intake inside and out. Idle is spot-on and throttle response is good (no sputtering or rough idle after quick accelerations). I will monitor and report any changes or noticeable anomalies.
I appreciate any comments and/or concerns one may have for these alterations I've made. I've heard alot about the good and bad of bypassing either of these parts.

Update: I've decided to remove the EGR block plate. My original reasoning for installing it is this: the rings are close to shot so theres alot of blowby. I'm assuming theres alot of unburnt fuel as well. the tailpipe stinks a bit of fuel. I figured eliminating the egr would help decrease amount of buildup in intake and make for a better combustion process. After reading up on EGR more, the reduced peak temps and detonation reduction during combustion may be better for this super high mileage engine. I have left the pcv setup as shown above. I figure alot of buildup will be reduced just from venting PCV. And yes, I will monitor catch can for oil. PAhonda, i appreciate your input on this comment, and my county does have emissions: the rule is all factory emissions equipment must be intact and appear to work. So, I'll have to disable the PCV setup once a year. The computer did throw a 1491 egr. I drilled the exhaust side of the block plate and no more codes, but i feel it was safer to remove the block plate and return to factory egr operation. What do you think?

Ok, so I've removed the catch can and back to 100% stock. I think mileage was decreasing a good bit.
