Default 92 accord lx auto rough idle

I have a 92 accord lx, automatic. The had been sitting fir a year, it was then givin to me. I replaced the TCU and now that is good. The problem now is it shakes bad at times at idle. Whether in park or drive it doesnt matter. I noticed that when I pull the negative battery terminal off while running it smooths out. Any ides as to what it could be? It drives fine and takes off good just cant figure out the shake.

I'm confused. Did you take off the negative or positive cable? I thought removing the negative cable would cause the car to lose all power.

I pull the negative cable while running. The only time a car should die when the battery is disconnected is when the alternator is bad. It just seems to me like the battery is cause a overload or something.. I am gonna test the voltage in the morning and see what its putting out. I got this xar from a friend and it had been sitting for a year the battery was dead and didnt charge when i jumped it and drovr it home. I put it on a charger and it has been fine since.

That's an old-school test, and with computer-controlled cars it's been known to fry the computer. Lucky that didn't happen.

Besides that, I'm not sure what to suggest yet. What's your operating idle RPM?

The car runs about 800rpm at idle.
As for the negative cable thing. I have worked on cars since I was 15 and never heard it frying comp. Thanks for that input. The last thing I want to do is fry a computer. After all I just replaced the TCU. Anyhow if I barely touch the gas pedal when at idle the shaking goes away. I read in another post that it could be the trans mount. I will check that out too.

Thanks for any and all info...

It sat for a year, have you run all of the old gas and that out of it? A can of your favorite fuel system treatment can't hurt.

Then, have you checked the normal tune up items?

Replacing the wires and plug this week. I noticed that they were OEM wires so they have to go. I also noticed that there was a little slack in the throttle cable. I didnt want to adjust it and have the kickdiwn cable to move so I have left it alone.

Have you inspected the cap and rotor?

Honda OEM plug wires seem to last forever, but 20 years is pretty old. You can check for arcing by starting a cold engine in complete darkness.
