94-97 F22B2 differences
 

I know the OBDI and OBD2 F22B2 engines are different, and heard with some minor changes a 94 engine can be used in a 96 for example.

What I can't seem to find is a clear description of what needs to be changed if you are installing a 96-97 engine, into a 94 (OBDI) car.

You asked two different scenarios. The 94/95 engines are identical and the 96/97 are identical.

96/97 engine into a 94 accord.

All you need to use is the 94 distributor. The crank sensor on the 96/97 engine block will not be plugged in, so you'd have to use a zip tie to secure it.

For a 94/95 engine into a 96/97 accord.
The 97 distributor must be used. Also the 97 crank shaft timing belt gear, crank sensor, and I think the oil pump, so you can bolt on the crank sensor.

I do not think there is anything else, but someone can add to this, if I forgot something.

You don't have to change anything if you put a 96-97 into a 94-95, only if you do the opposite.

Perfect! That's what I thought. As long as I use my dist etc, there is no changes other than securing the crank trigger pigtail.

Holmesnmanny's comment is misleading, because the 94/95 distributor must be used on the 96/97 to easily connect the wire harness. If you wanted to use a 96/97 distributor, you would have to modify some wiring to connect the distributor and the crank and cylinder position sensor.

Just want to make this clear in case someone else reads this thread.
