94 accord ex f22b1 manual won't rev passed 4800rpm???
I just bought a 1994 honda accord ex with the f22b1 motor with a 5 speed tranny, the car runs good but won't rev passed 4800 rpm.............it's like a rev limit kicks in, then the check engine light came on and it won't rev passed 3800,,,,,,,,,,,,i'm new here guys.....and i'm lost. PLEASE HELP!!!:D

The check engine light turning on means that the engine computer detected a problem and stored a code to help identify the problem.
Follow this procedure: http://www.dhost.info/accordinfo/howto/cel.html Post the code(s) that flash on here. |
I got code 21 vtec spool solenoid valve and code 22 vtec pressure valve.

Check that you have enough oil in the engine at the dipstick.
I would check that the connections on the vtec solenoid and pressure switch are tight. Also look for signs of oil leaking around it. Clean any oil out of the electrical connector. In the DIY section, I posted a spooner link in the Online Manuals thread. There is a 94 accord shop manual that you can download. There are some tests that you can do with a volt meter on page 6-4 and 6-6 for the code 21 and 22. You will not easily be able to do the tests where it calls for the test harness plugged into the wire harness and the ECU, since you do not have that. You can get through most of the tests though. |
i have the same car and mine wont rev over 4800 but i have never gotten a check engine light... i have tried everything
