94 Accord Ignition lock and key
 

I have a 94 accord lx in which the ignition went out on. It calls for the two shear bolts to be drilled out on top of the steering coulum to replace the ignition switch and key.Only problem is i cant get a drill in there to do it.Is a 90 degree drill the tool I am looking for or is there a better tool.

The key tumbler is bad? If it is only the electricalswitch portion you do not need to even look at those bolts.
Instead ofdrilling them out, I use a small chisel along the edge of the 'head' and tap it out counter-clockwise.
FWIW. If your 94 has airbags be very cautious around the flat ribbon cable that goes to the SRS connections.

I've seen instructions from others to use a sharp steel punch and hammer at an angle to turn the round bolt head. A good sharp small chisel would work also.

thanks for the information. The lock and key are broken and I have a new igniton lock and key setup ready to go I am just at a stoping point trying to get those shear bolts off.
