98 accord I have to keep the gas pedal floored for it to stay idling
I have a 1998 accord 4cyl. I have replaced the fuel pump and the gas regulator valve. I put new spark plugs in it but after it ran for a minute they look ruined. The only way it will run is if I keep the pedal to the floor. It runs barely and very badly shaking violently. I don't know what else to do

I cannot tell you if its throwing codes unfortunately I don't have a code reader. The car does not run well enough to drive it. It does have a check engine light on though. This all started when the person who owned it put the fuel pump in. I put the fuel pressure regulator on because it is a known issue with these cars.before that it would just crank it wouldnr fire at all

So you turn the key to "on/pos II" and the cel comes on for two seconds and goes off - fuel pump should "prime" during this.
Then when you start the car the cel comes back on?
If so, there is a way to get the "simple" codes from the ecu/pcm by jumping the pins on the OBD-II port....these are not as good as the II codes but might give us a place to start. Do you know anyone that might have an ODB-II reader that you could borrow.....some can be had for ~$50 or less.
Personally didn't know the pressure regulator was a common issue on these.
If you can't get a reader or don't want to jump the OBD-II port in such a way to at least get the OBD-I codes......try unbolting the exhaust pipe from the manifold or before the cat and start the car and see how the engine runs.

That's a great Idea about the cat. I read on google that the fpr is a common issue on the late 90's accord when I searched the symptoms the car had it had me stumped like it does now. I have been wanting to buy one of those code readers anyway so I will try to find one thank you Poorman212

Sounds like its going full rich, sure you put the FPR together correctly? And make sure that the pump was put back together, like that the pressure and return are not on backwards. Don't think its a bad wire for an injector since you said all the plugs look like crap.
