Default 95 accord

getting a free 95 accord the person says it has a blown head gasket and will not start just cranks it sounds more to me like the timing belt went. but am not sure if this year has a close tolerance engine or not. what info would you guy's need to determine if this car is a close tolerance engine thanks

The 1995 Accord is one that the valves will hit (interference fit) the pistons if the belt failed. I did a head gasket on my 1995 last year. A failed head gasket would be better than a failed timing belt. If you do need to replace the head gasket get the head milled and you may want to do a valve job at this time also. My motor got pretty overheated when the gasket failed but turned out fine after the repair.
