95 accord ex auto trans problem
Hello all,
I did a search and couldn't find my issue. I have taken the car to the shop, and they could not find the cause of the problem. Here's the deal, when I am driving down the highway at or above 70mph I get a hummmm vibration through the car when the torque converter unlocks. You can watch the tach move up a couple of hundred rpm's when this happens. After the converter locks up it goes away. It's driving me crazy, and it sounds like crap going down the road. Any help would be much appreciated. Mark |
When's the last time the trans fluid was changed? Honda ATF or some other brand? Did you drain/fill or power-flush?
|
I changed the trans fluid about 300 miles ago with honda fluid. Drain and refil no flush. The car has 89K on it. The fluid was verry dark.
|
Since it was dark, do a couple more drain/fill cycles with some driving inbetween. The 3 quarts you can drain, is only about 1/3 of the total fluid so you're diluting the dirt out of there.
Any check-engine lights? Flashing D4 lamp (that's the tranny's version of a CEL)? I hope someone else chimes in, cause I'm not really an auto-trans guru. |
I will do that. No codes or flashing drive indacator. How many miles would be good to put on before changing again?
|
It probably takes 30 or 40 miles to mix the ATF around, especially into the torque converter. (The TqC is the main thing that doesn't drain).
Or just wait a day or even till the next weekend. No reason you can't wait 150 miles. |
