95 accord starting problems
 

hello i been having problems over the last week or 2 . i have a 95 accord with 2.2 vtech and m/t when it frist happened i thought the battery was dead so i was in a parking spot so i tried to push it out my self while pushing it i had it in reverse i let the clutch out trying to push start it well i wasnt doing fast enough to pop the clutch but i decided to try starting it with the key it started right up then i drove home turned it off tryed to started it agian no problem . i get in the next couple of times tryied starting nothing but i would push in the clutch and put it in reverse it would start so i continued to do that well the next couple of times i would have to push the car forward andin frist gear let out the clutch get it the car and put it inb reverse again would turn the key it would start this morning i get in car started only when in reverse get to the donut shopturn it off get back and nothing now push it a couple feet and putting in reverse is not working was told it was the battery put it on a charger in the jump postion it started turn it of with the cheger still on but nothing so too battery termainals off chargeed battery nothing walked awa from the car for a couple hours car started turn off then nothing i hear the fuel pump come on and i hear relays under the dash click but thats walk away agian it starts but turn key off and agian nothing this is crazy i can keep push starting this car :confused:

When the car is not starting, do you hear one click from inside the engine bay when you turn the key to start it?

no clicking in the engine bay , i do hear what seems to be a relay of some type under dash , i just tried to jump it off with a jump box to get it to my machanic but nothing just hearing the fuel pump and that relay (i beleive its a relay ,it a click coming from under the dash on driver side) so i had to push start it to get it started

There are a couple of items that you can check.

1. Disconnect the battery and clean both the connections to the starter.

2. Have an assistant hold the key in the start position. Use a long screwdriver and hit the starter with light to moderate force.

3. You can use a volt meter to see if you get 12V to the smaller blk/wht wire that goes to the starter when someone turns the key to the start position.

4. You can stop by a parts store, and have them test the battery/alternator/starter.

thanks for the info it was the starter got one comming tomorrow yea no more push starting :):)
