96 lx starter
so the starter is going bad in my accord. it will crank a little bit then it wont crank at all until i tap on the starter. any tips on replacing the starter???
|
Pretty simple replacement. Disconnect battery first (make sure you have the code for radio, if stock). Disconnect the wires going to the starter, should be 2 of them. Top bolt is a 14mm, and the bottom is 17mm. You're going to want to use a 6" extension on your ratchet for both bolts, makes things easier. Installation is in reverse, good luck. Oh and your battery tray might get in the way. I found it easier to take the battery out w/ the battery tray.

Is there anything else I need. Like to I need to jack my car up should I remove and install it from the top or bottom ?

The top bolt of the starter, you can access from the top of the car.
The bottom bolt was accessed from under the car. I had to use a few extension/socket combinations before I got the ratchet in a space where I could turn it. It wasn't too bad to remove. |
