97 Accord Ignition Timing

Good day all,

Just removed the distributor in my 97 Accord, SE, 2.2 liter engine to replace the o-ring.

After some work, everything is back together and no more oil leaks.

However even with marking the distributor well, the engine seems not to be running quite as well, though not bad.

Thinking it's a good idea to check the timing. I do have a timing light, and can't seem to find any marks on the crankshaft pulley.

Any help on how to check this and make sure the distributor position/timing is set correctly?

Thanks all!

First, I think the spark timing is controlled by the CKP/TDC sensor down behind the crankshaft pulley. So spinning the distributor won't change it.

However... The timing marks look like notches filed into the inner corner of the pulley. There's a single notch right at TDC, and a set of 3 notches at the correct spark-advance. Center one is spec, others are tolerance.

Look for a little pointer molded into the plastic lower timing cover.
