Post Can faulty PCM Cause Transmission failure?

Hey fellow techs, I had a question about my 97 honda accord. Few months ago my original transmission took a dump, I retrieved a PO740 code. The transmission was toast, the local trusted tranny shop diagnosed it with a pump failure, probably because the tranny filter is inside unit and not easily serviceable. I simply located a new low mileage tranny and worked great at first, then i got the 740 code driving home on the highway no troubles, then next day or two it started slipping badly until it finally was toast also. I am on my second replacement unit. Heres where my question comes into play. I found a TSB concerning code PO740 and depending on VSS speed indicated either faulty PCM or remanufactured tranny. If my PCM is bad, could it cause my transmission to prematurely fail?

If anyone could help clear this up for me?

Thanks in advance!
