97 V6 EX Ticking

I am kind of at my wits end with my Accord. Shortly after I bought this car the engine started to develop a soft ticking sound. It cycles with the engineand increases with RPMs, Usually it will last about the first 10 min of a drive than stop. I changed the oil right away but that didn't help at all. Over time and the last 8,000 miles of so the ticking has gotten louder and generally lasts the whole time I drive. Some times it will fade away but come back a minute later. I think it has caused me to develop a nervous twitch.

What I have done. Again I changed the oil right away. I ran full synthetic for 5,000 miles (this just caused it to leak oil), most recently I put 10w30 conventional in. I changed the PCV valve. I used Seafoam and MMO. I pulled one wire at a time off the dizzy but it never stopped. I'm hesitant to pull off the valve cover because 1. the sound is coming from under the top plate between the valve covers and 2. I honestly wouldn't know what I was looking at. I can follow instructions just fine when it comes to remove and replace but I just don't have the skills for this kind of trouble shooting.

So if anybody has any advice on what may be causing this or something else I can try I would really appreciate it.

It is probably a loose or maybe sticking valve.

When is your car due for a timing belt change?

I guess that your EGR ports could be plugged up too. They are pretty easy to clean on your V6.

Timing belt was done about 25k mi ago. Will give the EGR valves a good cleaning and see what that does.

Wow, I came to check on here at the right time, Im seeing the same thing in my '95 Accord. When I get on the highway eventually Ill hear a ticking, when i lay off the gas it goes away. When I press on it, it can make this noise. I thought it was a wheel bearing at first.

I did have my timing belt and water pump replaced in 2011, and have only put maybe 15k miles on the car since then.

I hope this is something simple...
