98 accord shuts off

my 98 accord cuts off when going down the road, most of the time it will restart but sometimes it has to sit for a few minutes. It has a 4cylinder and is a 5speed

can you get the car to stall out when it is running and you shake the key?

jeff from ga 08-07-2010 08:38 PM

no, after reading other posts I tried that and I couldn't get it to shut off

In general if it shuts off instantly like turning the key off it is ignition and if you get some warring like if you have ever ran out of gas it is fuel. Is there any warning, loss of power, or hesitation? We have had cars break this generality on here, but not often.

The car gives no warning signs, it just shuts off, you can pull over and it usually starts back up, sometimes it takes a few minutes, but has never failed to restart
