98 accord V6 transmission issue
Hello Ladies and Gents,
A few days ago I was test driving a 98 Honda accord with a transmission issue that has really piqued my interest, mostly because I have never seen anything like it before. The car is very sluggish when put in Drive and the light for the shift position indicator is flashing. Initially I suspected that the transmission is slipping and needs to be replaced. However, when I put the car in D2 the car came to life and the pull was well within what I would expect from a 13 year old car. There are about 200Km on the car and given that transmissions on these cars are notoriously bad I was not surprised to find an issue with the transmission. But why would the transmission behave differently when put in D2 instead of D? I would very much appreciate your input. Kiyan |
A different clutch is required for different gears in an auto.
However, w/ D4 light flashing an electrical faulty is usually indicated. Trans may be fixable,...or not. If purchased, I would discount be a replacement transmission, used or rebuilt. good luck |
