'99 Trunk Lever
 

Hey all, just bought a '99 Accord Coupe EX-L. On the remote, the trunk button doesn't work (no biggie, i just ordered a new one) but i go to use the trunk lever and it doesn't work either. I notice there's a locking mechanism, and I assumed that was for the trunk, but it makes no difference whether it's "locked" or "unlocked". It just won't open the freaking trunk. My key will open it though. Anyway, there's no owner's manual with the car (also just ordered) so I couldn't look this up myself. I am hoping there's some trick that I don't know about. If not, has anyone heard of this happening to anyone else? Maybe the lock thing got stuck on lock and isn't really doing anything when I turn it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I already love this car, but this trunk thing is a little annoying. Thanks in advance!

maybe its the lock. If not maybe its the release cable

so if it is the lock or the cable, i'm looking at having to pay a mechanic to fix it, right? or are those things simple enough for me to fix?

k, so i got my owner's manual off ebay and i see that when you have the key in the "unlocked" position on the trunk lock, the key should be completely vertical, however my key will not turn all the way and ends up in the 10 o'clock position. if anyone needs to see pics to better analyze the problem i will take them and post them later. thanks. also, i got a new remote and programmed it fine, but the trunk popping button only works sometimes...it's very odd.
