ABS brake problem

I have a problem with the abs the problem has been going on for quite a while now but it is getting worse. The orange ABS light has turned on for as long as I can remember, but lately when the car just gets started there is a buzzing sound coming from the abs main pump or whatever it is called the orange light is off at this time and it gets louder when the pedal is pushed. After about a minute later the ABS light turns on the sound goes away and the brakes work fine. I bled the air out and made sure there was full fluid in the reservoir. Does it sound like just the main cylinder pump thing or something else just wanted to get second opinion. Thanks

The ABS light means that the ABS control unit detected a problem. Short the two-pin blue service connector under your dash, turn the key to the II position, and count the flashes from the ABS light. There is a main code and sub code, so a 1 then a 4, would be code 1-4.

See http://www.dhost.info/accordinfo/howto/cel.html

This procedure is the basic steps required, except you count the ABS light.

We need to know what car. Around '97 or '98 Honda changed the ABS system & the error code list is all different.

I assume yours is the older one since you talk about the pump running. You're talking about the ABS fluid reservoir and bleeding the ABS modulator?

Its a 1995 accord ex, yes I bled the modulator and made sure ABS reservoir fluid was full..I have not got around to check the error code on it yet. Thanks

Any leaks around the modulator? I sorta remember some seals that can leak but not really sure of the details.

Error code will help a lot.

94-97 accords very notorious for Abs Modulator leaking ..
it can be resealed , dealer should still sell the o-rings to reseal it, to be honest i done a few had success with some no success with 2 others had to replace modulator assembly ,, not a cheap item,,,,,,,
if you reside in a Non-snow,non- icy ,winter climate, you can do without abs ..,,if in cold winter climate , ABS could be a big help and a life saver ...

hey don't shoot the messenger here;
On those older ABS units the check valve to hold pressure in the accumulator is at the very bottom of the unit, you know down there where all the crud & water settles.
The check valve alone [a $5 part ] is not replaceable, it's part of the entire unit.
I'd say to bleed the unit several times and hope for the best.

Ok so I checked the code, when the key is in the II position it flashes 1 right away pauses for a sec then 3 additional slow flashes after the first. So what is 1-3 code?
