AC control panel issues

I have a 2000 accord and the control panel for the AC/heater keeps flashing on and off. When it is off (no lights lit up) it doesn't respond when you push the buttons and semi warm air comes out when I turn the AC on. Randomly, the lights will come back on and it will again be responsive. It usually happens (going on and off randomly) for the first few minutes of turning the car on, but will then stay on. Any ideas?

Had the same issue. Purchased a used control unit off e-bay. Be careful that you only get a unit for a 2000. I purchased a unit off of a 98 accord and the hazard switch knocked out my multiplexer unit. The control unit worked just fine, but found out later that the hazard switch is not compatible. The swap is simple and takes about 10 minutes. 3 screws and 3 wiring harnesses.

Thank you so much! Is it easy enough for a girl with little knowledge about cars to do?

If your hvac looks like this 99, then you should be able to do this. Watch the video and see if you can handle it. We can answer any questions you would have as well.

It looks exactly like that. I will give it a shot. Thank you so much!!

Good video...This is EXACTLY what you will need. Just to be on the safe side, use your exsiting hazard switch so that you do not have the same issues that I had. (I was incorrect about the wiring harnesses...there are 4. 2 for the hazard/clock mechansim and 2 for the control unit.) Have Get a flat head (slotted) screwdriver available for the wiring harnesses as they can be difficult to uncouple and you can use the screwdriver to pry them apart. Let us know how you make-out!!

If you "really" want to go crazy, there is a "fix" for this issue:
