AC system will work w/ one cooling fan (not well at slow/stopped conditions), so inop compressor and dead cooling fan are likely separate issues.

Compressor not engaging usually means low refrigerant level. A leak is present allowing pressure to decline and low pressure cut-off switch opens disabling compressor, or...

Compressor clutch gap too large disabling compressor, or open clutch coil, or ...

AC compressor relay has failed disabling compressor.

Check hi/lo pressure cutoff switch on driver's side near radiator. If open (normally closed w/ charged system), the system pressure is likely low. A pressure gauge is necessary to confirm system pressure. A completely depeleted charge means leak must be repaired before recharging.

Compressor clutch gap is checked by looking for 12V on clutch coil wire at compressor. If 12V present and clutch not closing, then either excess clutch gap or open clutch coil.

Compressor relay is checked by swapping w/ similar relay from another position or checking relay w/ Volt-ohm Meter and power supply.

good luck

the car was recently charged with air and it just randomly stopped throwing cold air so i took it to a mechanic and he told me that it needed some more refrigerant so i bought like two bottles and it still didn't work he said it was possibly an electrical problem because it wouldn't throw cold air. if you know what i should look for if it's an electrical problem that would be helpful. thank you!!!

This thread may give you insight regarding an electrical issue with the A/C:
