Accord 2003 EX V6 - Stripped Oil Pan
Hello,
I have a 2003 Honda Accord EX v6 and I took it to a Toyota dealer for oil change a few times. Apparently the oil drain plug isn't holding anymore which means it's stripped. I found this when I had a friend do the oil change. It seems that the dealership didn't put any washer.
So I got an oversized bolt which didn't work and I had constantly oil spots under the car. Then when I had to change the oil again, I used a different oversized bolt which actually worked that time. Finally, using the same bold that worked before didn't worked the third time. Now the car is leaking again oil. I was wondering what should I do.
Can anything else be done about the oil pan or do I have to replace it?
It seems to be very hard to find a new one, because most are for the 2.4 Accord and I don't think it's the same in a v6.
I was able to find a used one at a junkyard for about $60. If I have to change it, I'll need a new gasket too? I think they run for $30 at AutoZ or AAParts.
Thanks.

I looked at OEM oil pans, and they are $120 at the dealership. The discount OEM places are $83 + shipping.
Also, the parts diagram did not show a gasket. I wonder if you need to use Hondabond as the gasket? You may want to call a dealership and play dumb with the parts department. Ask them how much an oil pan gasket would run, because you suspect yours is leaking.
I like the site car-part.com where you can search through local junkyards for parts. You can sort by price or distance to find a better deal or a shorter drive.

You can get a new one here. Probably still cheaper than a dealership, even after shipping charges. There is no gasket, as far as I know.
