Accord WON'T start!

HELP!

My car isn't starting; I'm pretty sure it's the starter.

I was in traffic, and I shut my car off at this red light because my AUX in connection sometimes doesn't work, so I have to re-start the car sometimes for it to work.

Anyways, it wouldn't start after that. I pushed it into a parking lot and tried hitting the starter a bunch of times, it wouldn't start up.

This happened 2 times before, once a year ago, which the stick fixed, and the second time after like 20 seconds it started working again.

I tried jump-starting it, no luck. I don't think it's the battery, because it spools the starter and it makes a noise but it doesn't crank.

ANY advice? If it ends up being the starter, how can I get one super cheap? I'm a broke college kid!

Is the starter spinning the engine over but it won't run on its own?

alright, so I replaced my starter. I tried to do most of it myself (got most of the bolts and connections off of the intake manifold and everything connected to it) and basically took that part off myself, but my buddy said I should get his mechanic friend to come help me fix it. For $50 I couldn't argue with him, but I really wanted to do the whole thing myself (I never really have gotten that deep into my engine yet)

So anyways, we tried to replace the starter together (it looked pretty easy, I could have done it myself but the mechanic did it so much faster) and the starter had a cable connected to it that was connected to this bolt in the engine, and it was broken apparently. I think I broke it when I hit the starter and now I need to replace it.

I went to AutoZone last night to get this part, but with these pictures the guy I talked to says he doesn't have the part. Can you identify this part, and where I might be able to get one???

THANKS!

looks like some kind of sensor. check honda majestic auto parts for diagrams and a part number

Looks like you broke the knock sensor. A little hard to tell due to the picture not being sharply focused; but, the electrical connector may possibly be okay, it looks like part of the knock sensor is still attached in the connector.

This is not the same as the OP's starter.

OK, it ended up being the knock sensor. Kudos to redbull-1! I had my mechanic friend install it (he had to rip everything apart again), and the part ended up being $57 at autozone. SO in the end, I spent about $110 for labor, $57 for the sensor and $127 for the starter, and about 6-7 hours of working / waiting for the mechanic to finish.

He also said a lot of my fuses blew because he told me it was safe to drive the car without a knock sensor. I'm afraid because of this I may have done something detrimental to my car's computer or something crazy. The car runs and drives perfectly now (was not when knock sensor was broken, it was making this revving noise and whenever it idled it would idle up and down like 300-500 rpm up and down, it wouldn't stick to the same speed). THe only reason I think this is because I have a TON of codes coming from my ECU from the check engine light. I'm hoping AutoZone can clear the codes and none come back.

Anything I should be worried about/could check to see what's going on?

bump?

Get the codes pulled and post them on here.
