Adaptive Cruise Control question

2016 Accord Coupe EX CVT w/Sensing

Dumb ACC question:

When ACC automatically applies the brakes to maintain distance from the car ahead, do my brake lights come on?

I would think "yes", but drivers behind me didn't seem to realize I'm slowing down. Or are they just being idiots..?

Yes, if the system applies the brakes, the brake lights come on....at leat on the '16 Pilot they do :)

Now I should be clear, if the system just drops the "gas" and does not have to apply the brakes, then of course they do not come on.

Thanks for responding.

I can feel the brakes being applied so ACC isn't just reducing the gas.

I've already had a couple of close ones when the driver behind me didn't react when ACC slowed my car down. That's why I asked this question.

I hate the sound of squealing tires behind my brand new shiny silver toy...

Well if the brake lights are not coming on, that would be quite the safety issue.

Agreed.

Guess I'll have to get someone to follow behind me and see if brake lights come on when ACC starts braking...
