Adding Homelink to Accord EX-L

New guy to the board, but long time Honda owner. My wife's new Accord EX-L 4 cyl did not come with Homelink. Other Accords do have it I've been told. Can I relace the sunglass holder/spotlight assembly with one that has Homelink from a different Accord model????

I am digging into this question myself. I can say on a newer toyota 4runner you can do exactly what you descibed ( I did for $76). I will go to a parts dept and see if I can resolve this. It really should work as why build different frames, electrical connections and headliner openings?

homelink is a programmable interface that you can use to open your garage door among other things as you get home.

the problem is there may not be a connector up there to plug it into on non homelink accords. i'll check into the etm later if someone else hasn't checked.

The homelink module 36650-TA0-A01ZB (ivory) A =gray, appears to be a direct snap in to the existing console. Problem is the part is 158. The console itself is 37. To the previous post, I am not sure if it is plug and play. According to the dealer the wiring harness in the sun glass holder areafor the ex-l 4 cyl is a different part number than for the 6 cyl ex l. However the drawing looks the same. So I cannot say it will electrically plug in. If I can get it discounted somewhere I will try it. The dealer did say I could buy it and return if in fact it did not work.

yeah, there is no connector to plug it in.

however, you can just power and ground to it easy enough, i can help you with it, tell you where to route the power wire, etc if you're up to it.

Ok, I will take you up on that assuming I can get the homelink module under 100. Thanx

College Hills Honda in Ohio is selling a homelink unit from the EX-L V6 that they've modded to run on battery power.

They probably would sell an unmodded unit as well that you could find a power supply for. I imagine other dealers could do the same.

Here's the link: http://www.collegehillshonda.com/hon...d_interior.htm

Adding Homelink module to 2003 Accord EX. Didn't like the look or fussing with my oldclunky garage door opener. Found a homelink module (actually out of Acura TSX) on Ebay, and traded units. Works like a charm!:D

Somevery clear instructions outlined on YouTube from College HillsHonda on how to do it.
