Alternator/Battery Question.
Hi All,
I have a 2006 Accord, EX, V6, auto transmission. This weekend the alternator went in which drained my battery also. The battery was installed in January 2014 and has a 36 month rating. I had the battery recharged and tested from my local auto parts store and it passed. The parts store also tested my alternator and it failed. My question is, when I replace my alternator, would it be safe to use the same battery or should I purchase a new one and install with the new alternator? Also, would it be ok to install a refurbished Denso alternator or a brand new one? As you may know, the price is significantly higher on a brand new one as opposed to one that was refurbished. I rather be safe than sorry. Please advise. Thank you all! |
Battery may have life shortened by deep discharge, but if it checks OK it's good to use.
Rebuilt or new is a personal decision and also influenced by reputation of rebuilder. good luck |
ok. I'll re-use the battery. I'm going with a Denso rebuilt alternator.
Thank you! |
