Alternator help

Hey guys. I own a 89 accord as a winter car. My battery light came on today, and the car died after a little while driving. I got a jump, but it died again. I assume the alternator is bad, and I took a look under the hood. Is it a pain in the a$$ to change out the alternator. There is no room to work in there. I am not used to worjking on a front drive car. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Alternator help

First off,, In behalf of all the members here i want to Welcome you to our forum........

Now.. before i would replace the alternator , i would test the charging system,, make sure that the battery is ok and can hold a charge....
if you need to replace the alternator i have found it easier to remove the left axle and do it from under the car
In the engine bay you got to remove the top alt bolt ..the rest i do from underneath........in some year i cannot recall which,, if you remove the oil filter, you might be able to slip it through without removing the axle ,, but like i said i cannot remember which year it was ,, it has been a long while since i worked on a 86-89 accord

RE: Alternator help

yeah, do what DH said and do it quick. A bad alt can kill a battery faster than madonna can get ...well you know... same for the battery it can kill a perfectly good alt....
