Question Automatic transmission

Anyone know about what is wrong with my transmission. When I put it in reverse. It sounds like it was thrown I'm park. And when I put it in neutral. I can tell it's trying to reverse. Drive works good. Can someone please help me out

I moved your post to a new thread. Please post your vehicle's info below.

Is the check engine light turning on or the D4 light flashing? When you shift through the gears, does the gear indicator on the instrument cluster match the gear you selected?

No sir. My main't req'd light is on. But that's all. I just bought it about a month ago at an auction. And that was the only thing wrong with it. I can't find anything on this particular problem.
Thank you for your reply

I'd check the transmission fluid level first. On Honda's, you warm up the engine/transmission, shut off the engine, then check the level.

I'd highly recommend getting a shop manual for your car. You can buy one for your car on automanualsource.com for about ~$22 and it is worth every penny when performing DIY repairs.

Maybe the shift cable needs adjusted? You have to remove the center console to access. Basically follow the instructions until you remove the nut holding the shift cable to the gear selector. Get the cable in reverse position, then set the gear selector in R by using a 6mm pin.
