Battery Drain 2006 Accord 2.0 Petrol

Hi All,

I am trying help my uncle with his 2006 Accord, its had 2 battery and the alternator replaced.

I've traced the drain from Fuse #40 under the hood then to fuse #6 under the dash, its for interior lighting. When I remove fuse #6 the current drops from 235mA to 33mA.
I've checked the interior lights and when the doors are closed, non the lights seem to be on, including the boot through the back seat, yet there is a drain.

For the time being I've left the fuse #6 out and I am not sure where to start from here to fix the fault/short. I did notice the light cover above the drivers heads very hot, not sure if thats normal from when the light is on when the door is open.

Anyone had similar issues or any ideas?

Thanks.

I've never actually checked, but the light being hot from when the door is open doesn't sound right. Unless the door is open for an unusually long time, that sounds like something going on in that lamp housing.

2.6 watts (200 mA) is pretty small for a light bulb, and it won't blow a fuse, but it'll make some heat if it's on constantly. Look for anything out of place in that light fixture.

I only have a US accord shop manual covering an 06. In my manual, the #6 fuse in the driver's underdash fuse box is a 7.5 amp fuse protecting the map light, trunk light, mirror light, dome light, and ambient light.

What is the amp rating on your #6 fuse, and what is the description on the fuse box cover and/or owner's manual?
