I think you misread my post. The battery light will turn on when you turn the key to the II position and not try to start it. The check engine light and the SRS light also turns on for a few seconds. The car doesn't need to start for the bulb check to work.

The reason I asked about the stereo is that my brother's car battery kept dieing I couldn't start it up. He put a system in the back that has its own battery wired parallel to the main battery. The system's battery was bad and was immediately draining the main battery.

Let us know if the battery light turns on.

Also, the source of the battery drain could be anything. You will need a volt meter and start pulling fuses to see what circuit is drawing power from your battery.
