Battery Life and Replacement
 
I noticed lately the cranking power seemed weak. Regardless, the car started each time, and I didn't need a boost.

I took the car in for a charging test, and the battery and alternator are both working fine.

Here's some more pertinent information:

Car is used mostly on the weekend.

The battery is a five year old Sears Diehard Gold, which has a 36 month full warranty, and 100 month prorated warranty.

I was told to come back if the car is hard to start.

Should I wait or invest now in a new Bosch battery?

Personally I would opt for a Honda 100-Month battery, I have one in my 2001 Accord which still starts the car with gusto and was installed in March of 2008, fully 116 months ago!

That's amazing, usually it's time for a new battery after 3 - 5 years.

That's very amazing. Normally I'm looking at battery replacement anywhere between 5 and 7 years, thinking I've done good after 5 years. Granted that's with just a standard battery from 1 of the chain auto places.

I have a Sears DieHard 100 month prorated warranty battery like the OP.

Mine is now 94 months old, never been serviced (it works fine, but winter is coming on), and I'll be going in next week for a new Diehard battery. ... a good product. Close to 8 years, flawless.

The problem with the Diehard 100 month is Sears will no longer be around to honor the warrantee. They most likely will not make it to 2019.
