black plastic box
 

I hit some ice and cracked my front bumper on the passenger side. There is a black plastic box that was located behind the bumper in front of the wheel that cracked off as well. What is that box called and does anybody know the part number I would need for a 1999 accord?

That is intake air box.

You can get a used part from a salvage yard, or remove and patch your old part if cracked. Leaks aren't a big issue as this is upstream of (above) air filter. Repair w/ epoxy and ripstop nylon or RTV. Clean and roughen repair area.

You may also want to consider not replacing the box. It's purpose is as a resonator to quiet the rush of intake air. Many people enjoy the increased sound of rushing air.. giving the car a 'sense' of more power.

Some people only remove the baffles from within the box, others remove the box altogether... especially if they are installing a CAI .. Cold Air Intake

I don't recommend removing the box, because that box is essentially the bottom of the U-shaped intake tube. Completely removing the box can allow water from the road to get sucked into the engine and possibly cause some severe damage. The same goes for installing a cold air intake.
