Bleeder Valve
 

My dad told me that I needed to have the car off, loosen the bolt and take off the radiator cap, then crank the car and add coolant to the radiator. After I start seeing a steady stream coming out from the bolt, then tighten the bolt and add more coolant. I googled it and found that I should have the car cold and off in order to do all this and then crank the car up and let it run. What should I do and how can I find a diagram to locate exactly where this bolt is?

What kind of accord are you driving? Put that information in your signature, so we know what you are driving.

You are not going to have much fluid coming out of the bleeder screw until the thermostat opens. I believe they are telling you to open it before starting to prevent from getting burned working on a hot engine. I have just filled up the radiator(leave cap off) started the car and opened the bleeder and added coolant as needed. You didn’t say why you are doing the job. The bleeder screw looks like the ones they use on wheel cylinders and will be high up on the engine. Usually near the thermostat. I close it after getting a good stream of coolant.

I've done it both ways and it seems to work either way.

Ok~ I did the whole bleeder valve thing and it worked. Now the car is leaking antifreeze from under the motor on the driver's side (everyone says that's the water pump). and it is leaking oil from under the front of the motor!! Does anyone know why this is?

Waterpump normally leaks first through a small weep-hole pointed down & back, so it seems to leak from the lower back-side of the block, almost right next to the lower timing cover.

Oil leak from the front - you'll have to clean it up & watch it to find where it's really coming from. Oil pan?
